鲁汶大学在哪个城市?
The KU Leuven is located in the city of Leuven, in Belgium's Flemish Region. The university was established by a Roman Catholic Church-endowed monastery and thus called "the Leuven" (from 'Leveren', meaning 'church'). Officially, it should be referred to as University of Leuven (KU Leuven) or University of Louvain (UCLouvain), depending on whether you are referring to its French-speaking or Dutch-speaking campus, but the former name is so commonly used that it may appear even when referring to the latter.
Leuven is situated about 20km from Brussels, the capital of both Flanders and Belgium. It can be reached fairly easily by train(火车)或 bus (大巴). There is also an international airport near Brussels which offers frequent connections with major cities around Europe.
On the whole, education at Ku Leuven is very similar to other top-ranking universities in Western Europe. But there are two main differences: Firstly, while most European Universities have adopted the American model for granting credit points towards graduation – i.e. students gain ‘credit’ for each course they pass and these credits are added up to determine their grade(学分制)——at KU Leuven, courses are still offered according to their traditional format: you study one course per semester and your grades are determined by final examination at the end of the year (学期制).
Secondly, while most institutions offer degrees in a wide range of subjects, the KU Leuven has a rather limited selection: all programmes are offered within three faculties, namely the Faculty of Economics and Business Studies, the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Sciences, and there are only four schools: Education, Engineering, Human and Social Sciences 和 Veterinary Medicine.
